Biography

Brian Knapp

Brian Knapp is an intern-level Marriage and Family Therapist at Beyond Expectation Psychological Services. With lived experience navigating both chronic pain and military service, Brian brings deep empathy, resilience, and relatability to his clinical work. He understands that before we can overcome challenges, we must first acknowledge them—and his therapeutic approach reflects a grounded, compassionate space where clients are invited to do just that.


A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Brian has firsthand insight into the complex demands of military life and the obstacles of navigating Veterans’ Administration systems. He specializes in working with veterans, couples, families, and individuals facing chronic pain, illness, trauma, and identity-related stress. He also has significant experience supporting clients dealing with grief, anxiety, depression, parenting issues, relationship dynamics, work stress, and gender identity concerns.


Brian received his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Gender & Women’s Studies from the University of Arizona, followed by a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, he brings a strong awareness of inclusivity and identity-informed care to his practice. His goal is to help each client discover new ways of thinking, coping, and connecting by offering support that is both affirming and solution-focused.


Brian believes in the power of listening, compassion, and personal growth through therapy. He finds fulfillment in seeing clients transform challenges into confidence, clarity, and healing.
