While she does not treat individuals on the autism spectrum or with intellectual or developmental disabilities, Shira has substantial experience in inpatient hospital settings and in treating substance use disorders, including drug and alcohol addiction. She does not treat sex offenders or individuals with severe IDD.
Shira has served as a clinical manager, lead clinician, and Director of Counseling, mentoring fieldwork interns and supporting therapist teams in delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based care. She is trained in and uses several evidence-based modalities in her practice, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, PCIT, Play Therapy, Mindfulness, Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Yoga-based somatic therapy. She has also received introductory training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and incorporates elements where appropriate.
Though she is not currently licensed in other states, board-certified, or a psychological prescriber, Shira's experience in hospital coordination and residential treatment environments complements her work in outpatient therapeutic settings. She does not currently conduct psychological testing or hold addiction-specific certifications.
Outside the office, Shira finds joy in dance, hiking, travel, theater, painting, and wine. A mother of three—ages 19, 11, and 10—she is passionate about holistic wellness and self-expression, both in her personal life and in therapeutic practice. Shira brings warmth, presence, and a deeply rooted commitment to healing and growth to every client she supports.
