Biography

Amaris Bell

Amaris Bell, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Beyond Expectation Psychological Services. With a strong foundation in both emergency nursing and psychiatric mental health care, Amaris brings over a decade of clinical experience to her compassionate, patient-centered approach. She is licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse in both California and Nevada, and holds certifications in psychiatric mental health (PMHNP-BC, ANCC) and emergency nursing.


Amaris earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Charles Drew University in 2023, following a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the same institution in 2019 and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of California, Riverside in 1999. Her graduate training and residency experiences took place in Los Angeles, where she served underserved and diverse communities in both outpatient and forensic inpatient mental health settings. Notably, her clinical rotations included the Metropolitan State Hospital and the University of California–Irvine’s forensic inpatient unit, where she deepened her knowledge in treating complex psychiatric cases.


Throughout her career, Amaris has worked with children (ages 6+), teens, adults, older adults, couples, families, veterans, and LGBTQIA+ clients. She treats a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, personality disorders, autism spectrum conditions, and suicidal ideation. While she does not currently treat clients under six years old, she evaluates intellectually or developmentally disabled clients based on severity and clinical fit. Amaris has also served youth as a Nurse Practitioner in inpatient behavioral health settings and continues to provide hospital-based care at Seven Hills Behavioral Health.


As a psychological prescriber, Amaris conducts comprehensive psychiatric assessments and medication management across inpatient and outpatient settings. She has clinical experience with both military and civilian populations living with PTSD, and has supported several transgender and gender-diverse clients in their care journeys. She regularly administers psychological assessments including the PHQ-9, GAD-7, ASRS, Beck Inventories, and Functional Behavior Assessments.


Amaris’s approach integrates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy, tailored to the unique needs of each client. Her professional background includes 11 years of ER nursing, offering her a unique ability to bridge acute medical care with trauma-informed psychiatric treatment.


Outside of her clinical work, Amaris enjoys drawing and exploring true crime stories. She is engaged and a proud mother of two children, ages 18 and 12. She is passionate about providing safe, affirming, and equitable care—particularly for underserved populations—and strives to help every client feel heard, understood, and empowered on their path to healing.
